Since when did they limit editing time to 20 minutes

Since when did they limit editing time to 20 minutes. WTF is up with that? Why is that? I regularly edit as I can spell or insert pictures to save my life. I want to apply for an extension. Who do I talk to?

Thanks

Re: Since when did they limit editing time to 20 minutes

Sorry it was by mistake that it ever got set to longer... Too many abuse the edit to let it go for longer. Just use the "Go Advanced" button until you have perfected your picture posting and spelling. Type out a message, hit "go advanced" review it, correct it (as many times as you need) and finally hit post.

PS. moving this to a more proper forum....

It's probably too late to go back and edit "can spell" to "can't spell", isn't it? Just kidding, but I see your point right there!

The way this sites been over run with gay porn, spammers and trolls we are all lucky every word we post doesn't go through a moderation queue before being made public. If you haven't noticed the bad stuff thank Joe, Jim and Everett for the effort they put out to keep the bad guys at bay...

Exactly. Give us a break! I don't think I have ever posted anything that did not need editing, either for spelling or grammar. Where is the spelling and grammar checker then????

Re: Since when did they limit editing time to 20 minutes

It was corrected a month ago and only some of the forums were not already set to limit the edit time. This is the 2nd time in a month it's been noticed and only 4 - 5 have spoken out! Again it's been a month and now you rant on! I've tried to explain things and offered a work around.

Here's another suggestion, download www.iespell.com I use it and when I misspell a word it underlines it in red as I'm typing and often auto corrects as I type... Not the end of the world guys!

Re: Since when did they limit editing time to 20 minutes

Didn't mean to stir up a hornets nets, I was just kidding! I've got no problems with the policy and appreciate what the mods and admins do. Just want to be clear. I think I need implement a "no wine 20 minutes before I post" policy on myself.

Re: Since when did they limit editing time to 20 minutes

I wouldn't mind losing the edit time limit and allowing at least a little porn through....

I edit all the time mostly because I always think of something I left out. To me it's better for continuity to have everything in one post rather then adding a few extra posts saying "BTW" or "forgot to add..." Not complaining about the new policy, just giving another view.

Re: Since when did they limit editing time to 20 minutes

The guys that take advantage of 'unlimited' editing time come in, post a question, get an answer, then come back and delete their question or parts of it, making the following answers meaningless. 20 min. is plenty of time to edit spelling or numbers mistyped etc. with more than 20, its hell on us mods trying to keep up.. thats the bottom line. Most sites Ive seen dont even offer edit time, they push you into a 'review' section before you get to a 'publish' section button, then its locked.
I love this 20 minute time out of sorts. Good for you guys to edit mistakes, keeps the bad guys away and gives us breathing room.

Re: Since when did they limit editing time to 20 minutes

Years ago my edit time went up to several hours on this site. It was because I became a gold member. That time is what I find to be Nirvana. It keeps me from looking like more of an idiot.

Did I spell nirvana right? Oh, oh.

Re: Since when did they limit editing time to 20 minutes

You don't even need an add-on spell checker. Your browser should automatically underline misspelled words for you. Right-click it, select the correct spelling (usually the first choice) and press on with yer post.
What's the big deal with misspelling anyway? Unless it's a URL to a web site or something, no biggy if you spell 'fart' with an E.

I'd rather see an extra post in a thread explaining something than to have a post edited and cause confusion.
