Free classified scams?

Was wondering if anyone has had any problems with scammers on the free classified section. I was sent an email by a guy that said to consider my item sold but wanted all "my" info so he could send payment by ups or FedEx. I have sold stuff on other forums and have NEVER done transactions like this. Is there a section to report stuff like this?

Re: Free classified scams?

Not sure what kind of protection you are looking for. As a seller you listed something on the internet where anyone can see it. Think of the classifieds here just like the classifieds in a newspaper, magazine, penny saver or even a wall in your local speed shop or laundry mat . Would you expect the owner of the speed shop or laundry mat to go after someone that replied to your ad off the wall? There is just no way to vet the viewing audience when you sell something this way.

On the other hand if someone comes here and tries to scam people using the classifieds or the forums as a seller, I'm sure the site owners would step right up!

You're not alone, sellers have to deal with flake buyers all the time! Just start reading craigslist ads and it won't take long to see how frustrated sellers are because of scammers posing as buyers!

Lorne - I forgot to mention the classifieds section does have a "Scam Alert" section where classified users can post about scams and potential scammers...

https://www.camaros.net/classifieds/ and scroll down you'll see it!
