Posting Pics from Photobucket

I have seen many members posting pics from Photobucke giving viewers access to their account. For some reason when someone copies a link to their picture from Photobucket it gives two different links. It gives a URL link and a IMG link and I think its because the user is posting it from their mobil device.

If you want to post a picture be sure you only post the IMG link. By posting the URL link anyone can click on the picture to open up your Photobucket account. Thats fine if that is what you want to do but I can't believe it is a good idea.

To keep this from happening, after posting a picture, click the edit button and remove the URL link from your post if it is there.

I know it would be a lot of work for the mods but it would be great if they would remove that link from the pictures already on the site.

Re: Posting Pics from Photobucket

Photobucket has been changing scripting for the past few weeks and default noscript add-on for the FireFox browser no longer allows the cross linking due to the security issues that causes, so I have noticed that anyone posting URL links are being blocked as dangerous. The changes are being made at photobucket to guarantee that the insert ads feature when you view pictures is not defeated, reducing their click rates and therefore revenue. All the more reason to become a lifetime member here and post your pictures direct. If you use the img tag - at this point you should be okay until they figure a way to post an advertisement over your picture as a watermark 100% of the time, they are testing that right now on the mobile platform.

Everyone should secure their photo account to prevent public viewing since photos are being harvested and used in advertising without your knowledge or compensation ($$$)

I don't think we have the right or the resources Roger to edit all existing threads to remove the urls and replace with img tags. But I will edit upon any request from a member to change their threads if they have now secured their off site photo-vault and wish the content of threads here to be updated as time allows.

Not for nothin' but Photobucket is like a 74 Fiat compared to the Ferrari Flickr.com.

You might want to check it out.

Re: Posting Pics from Photobucket

Thanks for the tip, Roger...

After removing the URL tabs and leaving the IMG, just the picture is shown.
