zipcode/mileage malfunction

I filled in my correct zip code way back when. When looking at a ad from San Antonio Texas it says I am 148 miles away. I live in Nebraska. ALL ads I view are similar,,with wrong distance.

I am not real good with computers so maybe I error 'd in something. Any ideas how to fix?

Re: zipcode/mileage malfunction

Hum I never trust any of the ads in the systen based free classifieds and never used the feature myself but tried it and I get a range of 22 to 30 miles when I selected 50 mile range from the pull-down.

I got listings from NY, and NJ. I would assume the server is using cookies to set the markers to calculate your distance, but where it gets the actual locations of the ads is not scientific - some on the ads I looks at had fake city or were using enclave names so I assume the system just used a generic point in New York to calculate from.

So the bottom line is yeah there is a problem for autoguilde staff to check into.

If you use the Team Camaro based classifieds you can at least send a pm to the seller if they haven't posted their location in their profile.

Re: zipcode/mileage malfunction

Always been that way for as long as I can remember. I believe it's a problem in the code not the configuration so it would be up to the software writers to fix.
