Banned user creating another account?

A certain user was banned last year and is back posting with a new and not very hidden account. Is this kosher?

thats why its posted here. Do you finally admit that you and coolrockingdaddy are the same person? Doesnt matter really since its easily proven. David already banned you once. I guess after you get banned again you'll pop up again in a few months with a third account.

Actually, he already has a 3rd account as well. Wonder how many more he has.

Just my opinion, but I think it would be good if everyone had to register with a REAL name (both first and last) as well as location.
It is really easy to be a jerk when hiding behind a false identity.

Re: Banned user creating another account?

When I owned a forum, "sock puppets" were not allowed. Many (if not most) boards are that way now.

If any problems came up, I would block their ISP which gets displayed every time they log on.

Of course there are ways around that too these days.

Re: Banned user creating another account?

Yes the system currently doesn't block banned users from creating a new account and that would require AutoGuide changes across the system but can be done. I moderated a board where you were required to give full name, address and phone information which was cleared before you were allowed to join. No match to public records and no access.

As it stands the official rules of Team Camaro do not include any language about life time bans. This will be addressed shortly and the official rules amended I'm sure.

However as it stands right now the consensus is that the new account is treated as just that, and the behavior of said individual is evaluated as if the other now banned account didn't happen. If they mend their ways and follow the rules we tend to ignore the fact they rejoined after being kicked to the curb in disgrace.

The benefit of leaving it this way is that the person has the ability to rehabilitate their persona and become a positive member of our community. That being said, a tiger can't change his or her stripes and the individual you are all referring to has fallen into the same predictable pattern causing a ton of you to click the report icon and call out his behavior. Please continue to do so.

All I can say right now is please stand by.

Re: Banned user creating another account?

Thanks Brian. The purpose of this was just to bring it to your attention. I know on some other sites I moderate this is frowned upon and reason for an ip based permaban.

Re: Banned user creating another account?

Yeah Jason the number of reports have been noticeable and ever increasing. We as moderators have had several discussions about him this week and I have reached out to him setting him straight on what is acceptable and not. I would do the same thing for any of you acting like a clown at a family funeral so don't take that as sticking up for him. just keeping the peace if I can, and banning if necessary.

As to corrective action in the registration process here at TC, I have suggested using the system most boards use, by not allowing new members to post Unmoderated until we confirm identity. And also adding language to the rules and regulations about permabans and bans in general.

Re: Banned user creating another account?

Why not PM one or more of the mods if you have an issue with someone, surely it doesn't need to be aired openly? That just leads to the sort of he-said, she-said dialog as above?

The easiest an most effective tool is to simply report the post. The report goes to all the mods and we make a collective decision on the course of action.

We have a few members that are extremely knowledgeable that have difficulty grasping the Team Camaro concept of being constructive and persist in belittling other members.

As a mod I would prefer to coach these members in as opposed to just tossing them out. However if the guys don't get it then they will ultimately be banned.
