Question Read all the posts before answering

I will get flamed for this (so what's new) but why don't people start reading all the posts in a thread before suggesting something that has already been suggested? It shows respect that you have read what other people have to say and if you agree with what they said, you can say as much. I have noticed that it seems more and more people with the OP and just skip down to add their reply. Getting down from my soapbox now.

I notice that too. You know what it is? It's laziness. I myself, read it all cause I don't want to be called a moron in someones mind for suggesting something that someone already has suggested.

Re: Read all the posts before answering

When multiple folks post the same answer it adds credibility to the answer and that is a good thing in my mind.

Life is too short to spend time worrying about stuff like that. Don't sweat the small stuff...

Re: Read all the posts before answering

Something to ponder, someone may read the posts to the bottom of the page and decide to post an answer not realizing that there were more pages in the thread and that they had not read to the end of it. Just something to think about rather than assuming people are lazy.

If a member has a personal experience with a problem and has a tip on a repair that problem there is always a place on TC for that post. No matter how similar they appear. No one should be intemadated to not post on the site.

Exactly! If you can't take the time to read everybody's answer.......lazy or conceited? If I read all posts and see that people said the same thing, I will respect what they said by acknowledging they said it by saying I agree with what so and so said earlier. Common courtesy.

Re: Read all the posts before answering

and this is what you said on post #6 "Double check your valve lash'

Is this not the pot calling the kettle black? Sorry onif I like your posts, not stirring the pot here just sayin' that's awful close.

Its damn close to the pot calling the kettle black. Can't believe I missed it. I should've said "Check your valve lash like bigblockragtop said"

To a novice "checking to see if each rocker arm is working as they should" and "Double check your valve lash" my not be understood as the same thing.

So often the redundancy we see may not be redundant to all.

Re: Read all the posts before answering

I've noticed that on Corvette forum and times that two or more answer at same time and looks like they didn't read entire post. But as said earlier nice to have more than one affirmation that you have the right solution.

Re: Read all the posts before answering

Still over all a good forum. Most people are truly trying to help. Others like me try to show a different side, some people meet that with salt and hopefully others laugh.

Yep In this word of forums, emails and texting a guy's written posts sometimes does not clearly reflect the spirit in which it was made.

Point #2 - Sometimes we just take this stuff way too serious.

It's a hobby, it's fun, it's a bunch of guys trying to help out and share common interests.
