??? Where? On TC site? Are you using the Full View? Can't recall now, but I think it was worse on the Classic view.

Internet carrier?

Re: What's with all the spamming?

It's people making accounts and then making spam threads in random forums. Has nothing to do with which view you're in.

Re: What's with all the spamming?

Up until last week the majority of these were posting video links to spy, mal, or ransomware sites under the guise of live streaming links.
While we have had the Admins reactivate the software preventing new users from posting video links, the system is supposed to throw all new users who do in to a queue that we must approve their first postings. That part is not working.

So bare with us.

Many of the spam posts were in the convertible section. I have been watching.

Maybe our new cyber security guys can sort this out. NSA, you hear us now?

Funny this all began when Obama left? Boobytraps?

Re: What's with all the spamming?

Typically these type of attacks are sent out in random bursts by the millions without specific targets. They just throw it all out there and a few get through.

Filtering the link does the job of protecting you from clicking and potentially infecting your system. The rest is just a nucance.

Re: What's with all the spamming?

There is unfortunately no way that I know of to completely block these accounts from getting on. The human verification during registration can still be beaten if a human is on hand to help the bots get over that hurdle, and it looks like these bots are smart enough to remove the links and just post the text when they are trying to post, which is how they are getting past the other restriction.

These spam bots are failing at their task though, which typically means the spam attack will move on to easier targets soon or later (hopefully sooner).

We may just need to give the newest restrictions added a bit more time to take full effect
