Reporting Posts

Wasn't there once a little whistle icon that allowed a spam or malicious post to be reported to Admin or Mods?
There's been quite a few pointless posts over the last few days by newly-signed up members, and that got me thinking about the old version of the site.....

Re: Reporting Posts

I generally collect a list of all of the offending posts by URL and put them in a PM to the mods. This makes their job easier to find the offending posts, as the whistle just says So and So reports an offensive post; but the whistle doesn't tell the mod which post it is that you found offensive. He knows that he probably has a spammer usually, but now he has to open all of the posts since the last time he checked the board to find it.

Re: Reporting Posts

Us Mods have been on the lookout for these jokers, so we catch them pretty fast and delete them. There is some kind of bot making accounts and posting an embedded vid with malicious links. The site admins put up a blocker which stripped the vid from the posts, but the bot is still able to post strange threads. Admins and mods are discussing the best way to handle these threats! Hopefully we can weed these out soon. Thanks for the patience!

Kevin

It's on the new version too.

Under your name at the bottom of that box there is a triangle with an exclamation mark.

The triangle with the exclamation point in the bottom left does not direct the Mods to the exact post reported ??? I did not know this.

Re: Reporting Posts

Some background for you all on the "Report Post" feature here at Team Camaro.
The report post icon does a few things when you use it. Yes it tells us the thread/post and poster you are reporting.
It also tells us the person reporting it and any details you want to pass a long such as why you are reporting the post.

The reported posts end up in a private forum that mods and admins have access to as well as we all get an email saying there is a reported post to look at.

Dave - I Wonder if the actual report this feature can be set up like ours to tell you the thread in the reported posts folder of the administration forum to save you some time over there hunting them down. I think when Team Chevelle got its facelift, like us you moved to newer versions of the VB software.

Re: Reporting Posts

Looks like the reported posts function is already thoroughly explained

If you all have any questions about it, let us know.
