A week or two ago I ask about the Advance Search Feature of the site. I ran a search for "Camaro" and only got 8 results, all in Dec. 2017. So what you are saying in the above post that a member can't find a post of his own on a specific subject?

It seems to be worthless.

Re: Search feature

I found that the google custom search under calendar chat that shows sometimes works very well.

Thanks Joe for the suggestion, put this advance search was a very good feature that should be corrected if possible.

Roger, I agree the advanced search was very helpful. I
did find if you include the user name in the Google
search you get close to the same results as the advanced
search would return. Example: "NCRS rogerh" (without
the quotes) returns most of your posts with NCRS in
them.

Re: Search feature

There is a sticky somewhere about the ongoing problems with the search function. Apparently the administrators are trying to get it fixed. The google search seems to work. If you want to find your own postings quickly click in your name where it is shown next to "Welcome", it will take you to your page where you can click on "Statistics" and one of the links is to show all your own postings. (This is what I see from the classic view, not sure if it looks the same in the newer view)

Re: Search feature

Ya, we're working on it. Not proving to be easy, and it looks like it will require a move to a new server.

Re: Search feature

Good to see that others have experienced the same frustrations with search - and that Mods acknowledge the issue.

I've been coming here going on better than a decade now. As I just started another - in a long line of projects - I tried to search the forums to gain insight along the way.
Even searches on simple terms like "battery" or "alternator" kept coming up with no results (?)

Hope a resolution comes soon.

Re: Search feature

Apologies about this folks. We know it's been frustrating! Camaros.net is definitely on our list of sites that need to be moved to a new server. Doing so should help to rectify the search issues, but unfortunately I cannot give you a timeline as to when it's going to happen. I will try to see if I can bump the priority level since you folks have had crappy search function on here for several months. No guarantees, but I'll try!

Cheers,

Erik

Re: Search feature

Heya all,

Hope all is well, dropping in to give ya some more info. I work with the teams handling the conversion to Google Cloud and we are rolling it out on smaller sites currently.

We have you guys on the list to switchover in the next 30 days or so but we want to perfect the servers syncs before we move active VIP sites like Camaros.net. I handled the last conversion here for you guys and want to make sure all is up to par. We will give you a heads up once we have a firm date for the rollout.

Sidenote:
Also happy to log in her, my dad drag raced a 1967 Camaro back in the day and this gives me a reason to poke around a bit. Wish I could find her and buy it back. Car was sold out of the Chicago area in the 1980's by my father Scott and his cousin Tommy.

Some details and pics if you ever run into her I will buy someone a steak. lol

Re: Search feature

Some cool vintage photos there Jeff !

So I guess the conversion to Google Cloud is complete ? Sorry to say, but I'm NOT seeing any improvement with the search feature....?

Re: Search feature

Both seem to be working fine. I prefer the Google site search, but the vb can be more specific. What are you looking for that you are not seeing?

Re: Search feature

I always use to prefer searching in the appropriate forum. Use to work great, now it's pretty much useless.
