406 sbc

Hello all

My son and i are building a 68 camaro for strip and we would like to know what cam, carb make best power with the parts we already have

400 .030, victor jr ( mild ported ) 462 double hump 2.02 ( mild port and bowl ) 5.7 rods, + .100 dome pistons

glass hood
3300 lbs
10 bolt 4.11 gear
slidalink bars
frame connectors
turbo 350
2200 stall

Are you interested in choosing a different toque converter too? The 2200 stall will limit your cam options.

yes, open to all suggestions, I have been collecting parts, and dragging this car around for 20 years, and with great joy, my son said to me a couple months ago " lets race this dad "

Very cool that your going to go racing with your son!
You are going to be limited mostly by the heads, they are going to run out of steam for the 400 by 5500 or so I bet. If you have to keep the stuff you have buy a cam that will work and peak aroun 6000 probably.
Is a head swap any way in the budget?

And by the way, you should post this question in the "performance" section, it will get lots more replies.

Roller cam, download Comp Cam's Cam Quest and play with your choices - solid or hydraulic roller, either will work. If its all strip then I would go solid roller myself.
