Help adjusting door glass !!!!!

Hi I have a 1969 camaro which both of my doors don’t shut very good. The problem is the window glass is tipped in to far and hitting the weather strip and is too tight. The glass needs to be tipped out. They go up and down nice and even they are just tipped in too much. Can someone help me on how to adjust them I have never messed with this. Please help!! Thanks Brad

You have to take the door panel off. There are adjustments in the front top and rear top. It sounds crazy, but move it the opposite way you think it will need to go. I know it sounds dumb, but that's the best advice I can give you.

Re: Help adjusting door glass !!!!!

Is it original glass or aftermarket? I had major issues with my aftermarket glass from Metro Glass - the glass itself had too much curve to it causing some major modification to get it to work and still closes a bit tight.
Hours of trial and error unless you just get super lucky.

Re: Help adjusting door glass !!!!!

What I did. Loosen all the adjustment bolts. Use one (or 2) of those glass suction cups on the outside. adjust the glass to where you want it with the door closed and have someone inside tighten all the bolts. Didn't come out showroom perfect but Im happy with the results.

Re: Help adjusting door glass !!!!!

with the window down the door striker needs to be adjusted first to get the gap you want. If the window doesn't align correctly after that then its glass adjustment.

Sounds like the door weatherstrip is too stiff (firm). What brand do you have ? Most folks, including myself, prefer Metro.

If they're relatively new, give it a few weeks for the W/S to conform.

Re: Help adjusting door glass !!!!!

youtube scared shiftless. he just did a series of videos on rebuilding and adjusting both door and quarter glass within the last month. its like a 7 part series and it helped me out a bunch.
I had the front 2 window guide tracks swapped side to side and fought it for a day before I figured it out! doh! mine too seem tipped in to far, stock glass, but I think its the weather stripping that is just
very full and new. roll up and down nice.
I need to let it sit out in the sun windows up for a day to relax the rubber. helped out my trunk seal doing that this week.
hope that helps
