Convertible retract"lower" problems with mini-tub mod

Has anyone gone thru the process of resolving the wheel well obstruction to the convertible top metal frame being lowered?
My issue is where the wheel wells in the trunk have been made wider for larger tires the gap for the convertible top
frame to rest is now too narrow. The top will not rest completely down and allow use of the tonneau cover.
My top is manual and I see how both sides need a little larger gap.
I cannot resolve which would be better to mod Top Frame or Wheel Well.
Hopefully some creative person has a way without cutting or welding inside my trunk.

Regards

Clint

I have seen it fixed both ways. Tub mods is easier imho.

I modified the convertible top arms. My top is power. There was cutting and welding involved.

Thanks for comments, the resolution was to relieve and reshape the trunk floor.
All manual top mechanism kept original.
