Re: interior gutted-dash install help

Firewall pad
AC
Brake pedal carrier
Fuse block
Dash gauge carrier
Steering column
Brake booster etc
Carpet
Kick panels
E brake pedal

That what I can think of off the cuff

Edit, fixed per Al.

Re: interior gutted-dash install help

I'm not sure on a 69 but on a 67 the parking brake pedal/assembly is in the way when
installing the kick panel. Also it's helpful if the heater box isn't installed when installing
the right side kick panel. Don't trim the carpet edges (sill plate) until the console and
seats have been installed. Factory correct is the seats bolt directly to the floor not on top
of the carpet. The rearward edge of the front carpet covers the front seat bolts. The rear
carpet should be cut with a flap to cover the rear bolts.

Re: interior gutted-dash install help

Listen to Al, I never use those pesky factory kick panels. I like the ones from The Shop LLC and block off the vents.

Re: interior gutted-dash install help

Put the heater defrost duct in after the firewall pad, I believe GM built the car around it

Re: interior gutted-dash install help

I assumed Rich has Vintage Air so sequence is a little different, it goes in with AC per their instructions.

You donít really want fresh air because the VA canít cope with it. You can always crack the window....

Best to install the VA before the fenders go on.

OK Don care to elaborate? I know were in Texas and A/C is mandatory when you get older, I guess I'm not up to speed on modern builds - seriously this (modern ventilation) is new stuff for me and it never gets any love from the press in magazines

Vintage Air will only cool when recirculating the cabin air. It canít cool adequately with outside fresh flowing into the cabin. Itís mostly about the small sized evaporator. Humid fresh air only aggravates the situation.
