Console Shifter Plate

I am in the process of building a 68 RestoMod and trying to keep the interior somewhat stock in appearance. One item I can not get over is the wood grain on the console shifter plate. I am replacing the center dash panel with a black pebble grain insert to remove the woodgrain from it.

My issue is that I can not find anything to replace the woodgrain on the console. Ideally I would like to replace it with the same pebble grain that is all over the rest of the console and dash, but I can not find sheets of it anywhere. I have also considered using vinyl wrap over the woodgrain to change the appearance, but not sure how this would look with the rest of the car.

So I was wondering what everyone else is doing? Any pictures? Do they sell the pebble grain in sheets anywhere? All help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Console Shifter Plate

Frank,

That is exactly what I am looking for, but it is my understanding that a 67 console is different than a 68. I believe a 68-69 are the same, but a 67 is different. If this is not correct please let me know, but I think the 67 shifter plate has a "V" shape to it and the 68-69 is square. Once again, I could be wrong and please let me know if so. Otherwise, this would be perfect!

Re: Console Shifter Plate

It is for a manual (4-speed). That would probably help.....sorry about that.

Try looking for a 68 or 69 nova. The console was the same as the camaro but the Nova had the black insert and the black gauges.
The insert above I think is labeled wrong, it looks like it should work for what you want to do. It looks identical to the 68/69 insert. The 67 insert is way different. If you are trying to make things a little different but look original you might want to used black gauges also if you have a gauge pod or are thinking of going with a gauge pod.

Re: Console Shifter Plate

I tend to agree with you guys. The one in the link does say it is for a Nova as well. I have heard the Nova will work and I find pictures that looks like it will work, but I also find pictures that looking like it is not a square panel. Guess I need to look into getting one to check out.

I was also thinking about going with the black gauges as well. The console I purchased has the original silver ones in it, but that is a simple swap.

Thanks for all the help guys. I will see if I can find a cheap Nova insert to test fit and go from there.

Re: Console Shifter Plate

My 69 console had the nova black insert. I took it out and unfortunately sold it. But it was a direct fit.
