windlace end caps

I have two sets of wind lace caps from two different suppliers for my 67. The problem I have is after installation, I can't close my doors. The doors are adjusted correctly with proper gaps but the caps are too fat and there is a bump out on them that also makes the fit worse. Has anyone else had a problem with this and what is the solution?

Re: windlace end caps

I assume you're talking about the upper end with the metal tab that attaches with a screw.
This has been a problem with repops. Here's a thread that discusses all years.

Re: windlace end caps

This is the cap he is talking about. This was stock on my 67. I got a set of repops and had the same problem with the door. The repops are exactly like the original. My door wouldn’t close with either one. When they replace my right rear quart they didn’t leave enough clear for this cap. The cap is thicker than the windlace. What I did was ran the windlace all the way up to the top and finished the open end with paintable silicon. Painted it with the interior color and it looks fine.
