1969 Console rear ashtray

Hello all,

I have looked here and can't find the answer- The ashtray lid in my console is flopping around, so I ordered the pins and springs for it. Can these be installed with the console still mounted, or will the console have to come out to accomplish this?

Thanks.

I had the same thing and found it easier to use screws and nuts than those pins. I have the pins and the original bags they came in... never used!

Pretty sure the top half of the console will need to be turned upside down....would need to be a magician not to.

See if this helps....

Thanks guys. I have saved that pic Garth, since I have read several times here about how tough the springs are to get in there correctly.

Re: 1969 Console rear ashtray

I gave up on trying to get the springs in and working. I put in a .135" magnet under the lid and another on the under side of the console above the light and it works well and keeps shut. I spent hours on those springs and said nope not worth it
