67 RS/SS Steering Wheel

Hi Camaro experts!
I’m about to make an offer on what I believe is a 67 RS / SS. The trim code suggests that it is, however, the engine has been replaced and I haven’t seen the original engine code. The only reason for concern that I have is that the steering wheel does NOT say SS on it?

Did 1967 RS / SS cars ever come with steering wheels without the SS emblem on it?

It also could just be a replacement that was put in later, but I am following up with as much research as possible. Can anyone advise?

See photo.

Re: 67 RS/SS Steering Wheel

CRG report for 67 steering wheels.
CRG Research Report - Steering Wheels

Here is a the page to assist validating whether it is an SS or not.
CRG Visual ID 1967 Model HyperTable

The steering wheel is the last thing I would be concerned about proving if a car is an SS or RS or whatever, especially with the original engine missing. Do they have the original motor? There are a lot of boxes that need to be checked before I would confirm that a car is truly an SS, an RS, or an RS/SS. Everything on these first gens can be easily faked, so definitely don't overpay and do a lot of research before you spend a lot of money on a fake. Good luck! Hopefully you get an awesome car at a good price!

I’m not being lazy. I’ve stared at the page for an hour and can’t figure it out.
The trim code is 2LG 3L 4P.
Why wouldn’t the steering wheel matter?

Re: 67 RS/SS Steering Wheel

The steering wheel wouldn't matter because the steering wheel in your pictures wasn't available on the 67 Camaro.

What's the VIN? Depending on when the car was built, it's either an L30/M20 or an SS350. However, there are SO MANY bogus tags out there, it would be a good idea to post a picture of it along with the VIN.

And yes, if the car came with the deluxe steering wheel (RPO N30) or the wood grain steering wheel (RPO N34), it would have a bow tie on it and no SS cap.
