I have had to send my crate motor back(spun bearing) and want to get it dyno'd when it comes back. There is an engine dyno here and I got word from my brother that the owner said that it would cost me $500 to get the engine dyno tuned. I'm sorry, but this sounds a little high to me. What do you guys think?

Dyno tuning an engine represents more than one or two pulls on the dyno which is all it would take to determine torque and horsepower.
I suppose the area might have a bearing on cost and the reputation of the shop doing the work as well but if they are actually dyno tuning the motor, I don't think $500.00 is too much out of line.
In the Detroit area, it's $300.00 to $500.00 to set the motor up and make a couple of pulls.

Here in Lansing, Michigan it costs $430.00 plus fluids (gas, oil, etc.).
