how can I tell a bb car from a sb car.

the car has been setting in the bushes for a while.it has disk brakes up front and the hide away lights w/correct lower valances front and rear.
unfortunily someone started to make a drag car out of it so there is no rear floors or trunk pan or rear, but has a decent roll bar and rear frame installed.also missing hood and trunk deck and interior.as I said a shell.
if it is a bb or sb car is it worth saving or should I just finish stripping it ???
I'll try to get some numbers tonite.
no heatyer core or cover.

also how many bb cars were built?

BB cars have unequal height engine frame mounts. SB cars use equal height, or very close to equal.

Hope you find the numbers!

And as already said, the engine frame mounts on the BB cars are higher on the drivers side then on the pass. side then like on a SB car.

BY the way does it appear to have a front mount down low on the pass. side rear "frame" where a factory traction bar mighta been attached, if there is no rearend under it?? This would prob. mean it had a 12 bolt under it which only the 350SS, 396SS and Z-cars had. (I think?). pdq67

One way to tell is the heater core cover on the firewall. A big block car, the two tubes from the core exit out the middle of the cover. On a small block car, the tubes exit on the right (drivers) side of the cover. I am 99.999% sure of this. Hope I was of help. Good Luck with the car!!!

Of course it is worth saving, depends on the price and if you like it! Sounds like it may have a big block car but in my opinion, since the floor pans are removed and a rear frame with roll bars added, it would be a lot of work to restore it. You could make a Pro street or even a race car out of it -- which case it does not matter what engine it had originally. Personally I would love to have it!

PS: I assume since it has a rear frame installed, the frame rails have been move in to allow a narrowed rear end, is there a rear end in it?

well the car is pretty striped,no heater core or cover.the frame was set up for narrow rear and ladder bars,as well the rear Q's have been opened up but in metal and kept all body lines. If I get and keep the car it will be a pro street project, been then I might strip the steering column ,disks, and glove box. then try to sell the R/S front clip and rear valance!
then again a 67 ss/rs 502 ramjet pro street camaro looks good in my head(but not in my wallet )

any one know the numbers ???

It's not an SS or RS according to the trim tag. Its a coupe with a standard Black interior. Can't even tell if it was a V8 or L6 without the VIN though.

I assume the last row of codes on the car is L 2B 3S

Which decodes to (L) Fold Down Rear Seat (B) 3 Speed M11 Manual transmission (S) Exterior Trim.
