Question

Will the ACDelco / GM Performance Parts chrome 14" Chevrolet air cleaner fit on an Edelbrock/AFB carb with an electric choke, or will I need one of those stupid plastic spacers to raise the base of the air filter off the carb?

Thanks

I've got one of those stupid plastic thing-a-ma-jigs on my Q-jet with a cheapo Eldebrock cleaner. I know that doesn't answer your question but I just wanted to pop in and ask if you got the Vintage Air going. I don't want to change the subject so sneak in an answer or email me.

rojo,

I've got one of those plastic things on my air cleaner setup right now too. I hate it. It has shrunk, and the flange on the bottom of the air cleaner has bent out a little bit, so it no longer fits together properly. I figured I'd just buy a new Delco air filter housing, since they look pretty cool. Just trying to figure out if these things are drop-base air cleaners that won't clear Edelbrock square-bore carbs.

By the way, I sent you an email about the Vintage Air....it works great!!

Thumbs down

My new Edelbrock 750 manual choke carb (model 1407) would NOT work with the 14" drop base Chevrolet embossed GM Performance parts air cleaner without the spacer.......KZ

Question

hmmmm. I'm confused now. Oh well, I ordered it and it's on its way, so we shall see. At least it'll look good even if I have to use a stupid spacer.
