I need some help. I have a 69 RS with a newer 350 and TH350 automatic transmission. My problem is that the speedometer gets stuck at 80 mph and I am sure I am still accelerating. Does anyone know how to fix this or how to adjust it if I get bigger tires and wheels. Thanks

If your speedometer otherwise works normally (no jumping, bouncing, etc.) below 80 mph but sticks at 80, chances are it's a problem in the mechanism inside the speedo head that a speedo or instrument shop will have to get into.

If the pointer does not stay steady, the cable is going south. My 57 had a jumpy needle for many years before the cable let go. Lubrication is not the answer, tried that too.
