I used to have a book called The late Great Camaro. ( I think ) My friend borrowed it and never returned it. Anyways There was an article and pictures in it about the Pre Camaro during the early days 1966-1967 I believe, when GM engineers were testing out a new vehicle prototype in france. (if memory is correct) At that time GM was considering naming it Panther. There were several body prototypes at that time and I seem to remember thinking that they looked very european.UGH!
Thank God GM didnt use those body styles.
I like the name Camaro and Im glad and proud to have a 1st Gen 69RS in my garage.
BTW!
My 3yr old son says Camaro means, Varooooooom Real Fast.
Can I drive?

Re: Camaro Name

I am not sure why Camaro has to mean anything other than the car. What does Chevelle, Corvette or Caprice mean otherwise?

Talk about digging up an old thread... And an old saying but it's not "dropper" it's "downer". At least where I'm from

You need a "chevelle" to dig a ditch...
Your wife was wearing a pair of "caprice"...
Thou shalt not "corvette" they neighbors wife...
