I recently went through this sort of thing with my Bronco. I found two cracked vacuum lines and a bad solenoid, all of these were in the EGR system. Also, you could have a bad EGR position sensor if that didn't get replaced when you replaced the valve. That sensor should be easy to test if you have a vacuum pump and a multi-meter. I found all my problems simply doing the various test as described in a plain old Haynes manual. Let me know if you need a hand.
