just wondering, what exactly is a Q-jet spread bore? and how is it different from the others? and also, how do i know if that's what i have or not?

A spread bore is has smaller primaries and larger secondaries. Unless you punch it the engine runs on the primaries. A spread bore is a way to get better fuel economy and also performance.

Typical 4 bbl carb. (sq bore)
O O <-- primaries
O O <-- secondaries

Typical spread bore
o o <-- primaries
OO <-- secondaries

Oh! Q-jet is short for Quadrajet... Hope that helps.
