Wanted to do something special for this post so I thought I'd list 302 reasons why the 302 is the number one small block that Chevy ever produced.

1. I like them.
2. Chevy only put them in first gen Camaros.
3.

There's more, but those are the only two I need for me.

What's everyone's favorite PRODUCTION small block and why?

I like the 302 because they are screamers.
I also like the 350's because they are a dime a dozen.
400's aren't bad either.

I would say ZL1 as well... but if you want a small block... I'd have to say that I've grown very fond of the little 327. If only I had the 375 horse version...

The 302, because it was one of the first motors that beat the HP/cu in. barrier from the factory by a wide margin. It was rated at 290hp but everyone knew it was more like 350 horse. Also there is nothing like banging shifts at over 7000 rpm.

The 327, because it was the first chevy small block to beat the HP/cu in. barrier from the factory by a wide margin. It also has a great power to stroke ratio and it was the first small block engine I ever rebuilt.

I think the 69 302 is one of the best. But I DREAM about having one of those 427 small block, some create motors company is making, installed in my 68.
