Headers on LS1 69 camaro

Looking for some help. I was thinking about C4 or C5 corvette headers for my LS1 swap in a 69 Camaro. Has anyone ever done this and what kind of issues are there? I am putting a 5.3 iron block with a Texas Speed cam in my Camaro. Not crazy HP but a fun upgrade.

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

Re: Headers on LS1 69 camaro

C4 Corvettes do not have LS engines. The C5 LS1 stock exhaust manifolds will not clear the steering box among other issues.

You will need LS swap headers for 69 Camaros. Several companies offer good fitting headers both in Long Tube and Mid Length

Re: Headers on LS1 69 camaro

Thanks. I have seen headers from stock ls1 and ls7 corvettes for sale. I was hoping they would fit. Any body have recommendations on headers or exhaust manifolds. I have a Chevrolet performance oil pan for Gen 1 Camaros.

The "GMPP" Oil pan is a Hummer Pan that hangs very low and if you car is lowered you will have limited ground clearance. 2" lowered is max I would feel comfortable with and remembering to be careful>

I would think about using the Holley pan. It's more $ but less risk of knocking a hole in it.

LS3 with the GMPP Muscle Car Pan and Dynatech Headers.

Notice how far it drops below the subframe. The Dynatechs also hang very low so that will not suggest using them

Compare to the Holley Pan. It's almost even with the subframe

Holley v Hummer (Muscle Car Pan)

The Hummer pan Hangs down approx 2" lower and has 1/2" less clearance over the sub frame

Re: Headers on LS1 69 camaro

I am glad you posted that. Good information. I learn something more every time. I don't like the look when headers or exhaust hang down below the car.

Thanks guys.

Re: Headers on LS1 69 camaro

Great info, Vega$69. I'm getting ready to swap out my Hummer pan for the Holley (302-2). I've already hit something in the road with the current pan.

Check my rides:

Re: Headers on LS1 69 camaro

Exactly what John has said, I have the Holley pan with a set of American Racing LS headers for 69 Camaro ... NO fit issues and they are quality
