Rob's 67 Going with LS3/480

Started the swap Saturday.

Away with the 350 and in with the LS3/480. He already had a TKO600.

LS and tranny in and with the driveshaft and most of the work is complete underneath.

The Hooker Headers bolted on easy with plenty of clearance around the steering box.

Schedule is to have the new Tanks Inc. EFI tank and fuel system along with the radiator and everything finished next weekend. Then I'll wire it up and fire it.

Re: Rob's 67 Going with LS3/480

Plan to do the fuel system after work tomorrow. Then knock out the new radiator install. That will just leave the hydraulic clutch and pedal installation and the wiring. Well and the cold air intake. Using the Spectre set up.

Hope to fire it up this weekend if all goes as planned.

Re: Rob's 67 Going with LS3/480

Installed the fuel tank yesterday afternoon

To make it easier.

I install the wiring and leave the wires long. I then take my 20' length of fuel line and attach one end to the supply fitting and the other to the return. I mark a small "S" and "R" with a felt pen on the tank to indicate which side is which. Also install the vent hoses on the pump and the tank and run them to the Y connector if using one rollover vent or 2 lines if going with 2 vents.

Pop the tank into place and secure it with the straps. Now you can mount the Corvette Reg/Filter and cut the hoses to length from the tank to the reg. and route the line from the reg to the fuel rail. I run the fuel line on the drivers side and the 12v wire from the pump on the pass side.

For the PS pump use the Earl's PS extended fitting. This gets the AN connector clear of the PS pulley. Your original high pressure hose should be long enough. Have a local hose shop install a 6AN hose connector and you're done. For the low pressure return side the hose is too short. You can use the original fitting and longer 3/8" ps hose. hose clamps are all you need to connect to the fitting and PS reservoir.

Re: Rob's 67 Going with LS3/480

Fuel System - Done

Cooling System - Done

Tomorrow will install the hydraulic clutch master and pedal, The ECM and harness and fire it up.

Total time so far - Last Saturday and Sunday, 2 evenings for a couple hours and today.

After tomorrow's test drive We still need to have the exhaust welded and I'm converting the heater core to a BBC core. The SBC heater core hose fittings will not clear the engine on the pass firewall side.

I'll do a thread on the heater core conversion using the SBC cover without having to remove it for those interested.

Re: Rob's 67 Going with LS3/480

Just to add. Robs been here helping with his swap along with my buddies Steve and Randy as well as my son Wes for a few hours.

I put the LS3/480 TKO600 into steves 69 almost 3 years ago and it still runs perfect.

Re: Rob's 67 Going with LS3/480

Right now I have a 350 (77-79 truck motor) with a TKO-600 and 3.73. Looking to do an LS3/480 swap (as you did for Steve - foreverlookin). Looking for a list of parts / part#s I'll need. Thanx for your help.

Sorry, not looking to hijack this thread - just jealous!!
