68 Camaro LS? Swap

Looking for direction and input (full parts list John / Vega$69??) for an LS swap. I have a 68 Camaro with a 77-79 350 truck motor (that leaks a fair amount of oil - and antifreeze) with a TKO600 5 speed. Vega$69's recent weekend LS3 swap for Steve / foreverlookin looks to me like a pretty straightforward road map to follow. From what I've read (admittedly I don't know much) I came up with the following shopping list:

LS3 crate engine (~495HP would be a welcomed increase, not looking to rattle my teeth at idle)
Chevy 19301358: LS376/480 376ci 6.2L Engine 495 HP | JEGS

Holley swap mounts with the clamshells??
(don't know - New England steamed clams I know about)

Accessory drive kit
https://jet.com/product/detail/5b550...a:2&code=PLA15

GMPP harness??
(what do I need, where does it get mounted?)

Oil pan
Holley 302-2: LS Engine Retrofit Oil Pan 1967-69 Camaro/Firebird | JEGS

Gas tank (can't use existing?)
1967-68 Chevy Camaro and Pontiac Firebird Fuel Tank - For Fuel Injection
category_id=144/mode=prod/prd347.htm

Headers (can I reuse the ones I have now??), John said he used Hooker Mid Length Black Ceramic coated Headers Hooker (mid length headers 1 7/8" primaries). I have a Unisteer rack and pinion if that's a factor

Radiator??
(don't know - guessing I can't use the one I have)

Gauges?? (Like to keep my repro tic toc tach if possible? Have a console with auto meter fuel, oil, water, and volt meter as well).

WHAT am I missing??? Like to avoid any big SURPRISES! Thanx for everyone's help and input.

Re: 68 Camaro LS? Swap

I think the Holley mounts are these- https://www.holley.com/products/ls_p...parts/12618HKR

I think the GMPP harness is one that you buy with the LS3 and where you mount it is really up to you and what works best for your setup.

You cannot use SBC headers with an LS motor they will not work. Why not use the Holley ones?

For radiator I bought an LS setup one from the eBay seller dissrad, I have bought 2 different radiator from them and they are very high quality and fit the Camaro perfect. The LS setup ones have the inlets all on the passenger side and they have a steam port that you will need.

Gauges- I like the Dakota Digital ones, they are very easy to setup and have a ton of options. Not sure about using your old tach with an LS.

You will most likely need to get a tranny cross member that fits with your TKO, and also the clutch, flywheel, etc...

You can use you existing clutch, bell housing and X member will need a new flywheel. You can use your original tach and gauges no prob.

Re: 68 Camaro LS? Swap

Eat approach is to analyze each system, one at a time. Take notes and get you budget set, that would be the worst thing to run out of budget half way through.

Also, the Holley stuff is a no-brainer. Stuff all slides together with very little effort.

Re: 68 Camaro LS? Swap

LS3 crate motor is approximately 6700 now. LS3 GMPP harness is 1195. Holley headers #2276 , 600 or more, can't remember exactly. Accessory drive (Holley) is around 1200. Holley motor mounts, and Oil pan is another 4 or 500. Flooring it in 1st, Priceless.

Re: 68 Camaro LS? Swap

Reviving an old thread. DT, read through your LS3 build thread (more than a couple times). Sending you a PM. Not certain what I need for a radiator, or where to buy (maybe Vega$69 will chime in)? Anyone / everyoneís input would be appreciated. Looking to start ordering everything up. Thanx in advance!

As mentioned, the Holley stuff is a no brainer. I used everything but their x member. I have the Entropy radiator. Nice piece.
