Thumbs up LS fuel conversion

This is one of those items most of us would have wished they had a few years ago. Here is a unit that installs into the factory fuel tank and has a pump and regulator built in.

Re: LS fuel conversion

I almost ordered a Tanks Inc complete setup today for my LS swap. I'm glad I didn't before I saw this post. Looks like an easy way to save $250-$300. I'll be calling Holley first thing tomorrow to find out more details. Thanks for posting this 130fe!

One thing you won't have with this setup is baffling around your sump so if you do lots of cornering or things like that fuel starvation could be an issue.

Re: LS fuel conversion

Greg, I would agree with you to a point. I think something like this would satisfy 70% of the swap people on here. The hydramat is some pretty interesting stuff, might not be an issue for someone doing a short autoX track like a Goodguys but definitely not for a road course car. Great to have more than one option!

Re: LS fuel conversion

Chris, thanks for the info as an alternative.
I was considering this Fitech pump with built in regulator that would require recessing the pump on my existing tank and a separate sending unit. Hy-Fuel Single Pump In-Tank Retrofit kit ? 800HP ? FiTech Fuel Injection

Another alternative was the complete EFI tank
More Information for SPECTRA PREMIUM/COOLING DEPOT GM32BFI
I remember reading about the lack of internal baffling but don't know if that has been addressed.
Not to de-rail this thread but does anyone have info on the baffling on the Spectra tanks?

Re: LS fuel conversion

Yeah, I donít know how viable the FITech pump would be in our tanks (fitting that unit in between the trunk pan and tank). Great product but for a little more money you can buy a Tanks inc/Holley in tank complete tank. For those that put their cars through more (such as autoX I would look at the Vaporworx setup. Ricks Hot Rod Shop has a Stainless and a stamped steel version. I have been running the Vaporworx setup on my car for 3 years without any issues.

Re: LS fuel conversion

The In tank retro pumps like FiTech and Aeromotive will not work unless you modify the trunk pan. The OEM tank is mount tight to the bottom of the trunk. The retro pump modules stick up too high.

The Holley looks interesting. You will still need to add a high quality in-line filter for about $100.

If you need a new tank in addition to the Holley set up then your cost is about the same as Tanks Inc.

The Tanks Inc is baffled and a few guys run them heavy track and autocross without starvation issues.

I've read about the Holley HydraMat but have no 1st hand experience. I'd be interested is trying it out.
