TKO question

I have no idea at this point if I will put the console back in the car. Console setups for the tremec are offset. Is there any reason why I shouldn't use the offset shifter setup without the console? it has been 45 years since I have driven a Camaro with a shifter in a stock location and I don't remember what it was like. I put a super shifter in it in 72 and that was it until I permanently parked it in 84. I thought that super shifter's position was the best. The Tremec setups wont get close to that, I don't think, even with the offset, but anyway is there a down side to the offset?
thanks

Re: TKO question

Don't the TKO Camaro kits come with the correct shifter ? mine is in the stock location, uses the factory tunnel cut, fits in the factory console with the factory boot.
If you want it in a different location other than factory maybe modify your super shifter to work with the TKO ?

Re: TKO question

Im not too concerned with correct with regard to the car. At the moment there is no tunnel hole to match. I would kinda like it to be able to fit in the console should i decide to put it in but am more concerned with it feeling fight than looking right. I am a little curious if the shifter gets weird as you offset it. Theres bound to be some tiller effect to it.

Yes but the hole in the shifter console plate is offset to the drivers side. It is not centered on the console.
