Hooker 12618 conv kit problem note

My kit is supplied with 4 3/8-16x1 Hex head to hold the clamshell to the subframe through the adapter plate. In my case they are too short to engage the locking strip in the nut. The lower bolts get close but the uppers have no shot. I will probably put 1-1/2 length bolts in all 4 holes.

I ran into the same problem using the same kit on my '68 convt. I just ran to the hardware store and got some new longer bolts and used them. No problems so far.

Nah, the bolts are too short for the job. I can catch about 2 threads on the top and most of the nut short of the lock on the bottom. I would think it could be kind of a pain to see in a car thats together or in a hurry. My subframe is standing on end against a cabinet and its pretty clear. What i dont know is how alike first gen subframes are. Mines a 67 10E.
