I guess i got a few more days to think about it its just spending 500 bucks on a tank when i can spend approx 30 bucks plus the walbro pump is really a big incentive.

Re: 69 camaro budget fuel tank

??? .... E, $500 gets you almost everything you need for your entire fuel system

Also consider this E, your building a 69' Camaro ... these are always a valuable commodity 'IF' you do them right. This doest mean you have to make it a $100k pro touring car, BUT If you start mashing parts together from different vehicles the value of your car will drop like a stone ... just something to consider

I can promise you that you will almost always 100% regret going cheap or cutting corners in the end. Every single time I did I ended up doing it over again later.

Re: 69 camaro budget fuel tank

I'd like to see a picture of how well that fit under the car.

I know people do LS swaps on the "cheap" with junkyard pull out drive trains, But I thought the Tanks Inc. setup was still getting off cheap when doing an LS swap.

Re: 69 camaro budget fuel tank

Rockauto sells the Spectra GM32BFI tank for $281 and that includes the fuel pump. Did a 69 LS1 swap last year and it's worked fine for over a year now. If you would feel more comfortable, you can swap the fuel pump for a better version but so far I've had zero issues with it.

You could just buy the external fuel pump kit I’m selling in the classifieds and drill a return in your sending unit and call it good.

1968 that started life and a 6 banger with a PG. Now it's a 350 with a TKO600, Moser 12 bolt, Speedtech LCA/UCA, ATS Tall Spindles, Hotchkis Springs, Forgeline ZX3P, C5 (Kore3) brakes with other cool stuff from Ron Davis, Vintage Air and soon to be Terminator EFI.

Where are you getting a tank that fits your car for $30?

How is the Walbro pump installed in the $30 tank?

Just drilling a hole in your stock sending unit doesnít work as the return fuel squirting into the tank wil aerate the fuel in the tank. The return line should extend to the bottom of the tank.

You can use an external pump and bypass regulator along with a dual line sending unit.

Just because their 'inexpensive' doesn't mean that they are cheap ... remember its simply only a gas tank, guys that spend $1000's on a Stainless tank do so unnecessarily. I'm sure John will comment, we've sold BIG dollar Camaro's with Tanks Inc. systems and trust me 99.9% of buyers couldn't care less

Cheers

I use a Tanks Inc.
My point was that I thought it was the best easiest and reliable way to go inexpensively, and it fits well.
I try to picture installing an LS inexpensively and not including Tanks inc in the inexpensive category for a project like that.

If a 94 Caprice tank works for $30 awesome!, I'd like to see the pictures.

Re: 69 camaro budget fuel tank

I paid ~$230 for a Spectra GM32BFI tank when I installed the Gen 6 454 in my 69 that doesn't have a provision for a mechanical fuel pump. It works and looks excellent. It's $281 at Rock Auto right now.
