Holley Accessory Drive Kit

Purchasing a brand new LS3 from GM, which accessory drive installation kit will I need?
21-1, 21-2, or 21-3?

Car is a 68 Camaro.

I have the Holley engine mounts and for aesthetic reasons I tried to go with the Holley drive type that places the alternator on the bottom and PS pump up top. I was surprised to find out I did not have the clearance I needed with either a large frame or small frame alternator. I called Holley to confirm my findings and they told me that all cars are different....

So... I ordered the Dirty Dingo mounts for my alternator and PS pump and I now have the clearance I need when using a small frame alternator.

Re: Holley Accessory Drive Kit

I used the Holley mid-mount accessory drive set up. Keeps everything nice and tucked in. Also used all of the Holley/hedman swap parts. It was a perfect fit... absolutely no fitment or geometry issues.

Re: Holley Accessory Drive Kit

Pretty sure itís 21-1 because they tuck the accessories as close as they can. The instructions for the 20-138 kit include measuring instructions to verify which spacer to use.

Sorry itís been a while and my memory is not that great anymore.

Re: Holley Accessory Drive Kit

I had the high mount setup and switched to the mid mount. Better setup all around. I highly recommend the mid mount over the high mount setup. If you buy the Holley -38 kit, you still have to buy the PS reservoir and fitting for pump (to convert to AN6). The mid mount already includes that stuff, uses a C7 style water pump (cartridge style) and a 150 amp mechman style alternator.

Re: Holley Accessory Drive Kit

If I remember correctly, your water pump/balancer will determine what install kit to use ?? I think mine was the 21-1 on my GMPP LS3 (standard alignment). Better confirm this, I installed mine last year sometime.

Re: Holley Accessory Drive Kit

Spent a half hour on hold #17 in line on the Holley Help Desk.

The guy said he could not be positive but thinks it is the 21-1 that I will need, so that is what I ordered and time will tell if it is the right one?

Sorry but donít understand? I would only think one would work? When I looked at the different images in the directions it seemed that I needed the 21-1?

The Holley midmount is a completely different accessory drive that doesnít require adaptors. It also costs quite a bit more.

The Holley kit is $1350. Plus you have to buy the spacer kit for $60 and thePS reservoir for $100 so its $1410 total. The mid mount is $1800. $390 more and a much better system. It comes with its own WP so you can sell the pump off your crate motor to help offset the higher price.

Thatís a 28% premium. Just sayin.... Yes it is better imho. But the lower cost one while not quite as pretty is still a good option.
