Fuel Filter Requirements

Quick question - I am installing a return-less fuel system for my LS3 swap. I have been told I should use two fuel filters - something like a 100 micron and then a 40 micron. Is this necessary or just overkill? I certainly don't mind doing it but want to make sure it's necessary or appropriate.

Re: Fuel Filter Requirements

Carbed or Fuel injection?......makes a difference.
As a general rule if the in tank is fitted with a adequate pre-filter( filter sock) then add for Fi a 10 micron, carb 40 micron filter.

If the tank doesn't have a pre-filter then a 100 micron filter element should be installed between the tank and the pump then the appropriate 2nd filter of either 10 or 40 microns.
