Exclamation Windows XP and Vista users - Read this Aug 13 2018

Hello - If you are still using unsupported Windows XP or Vista operating systems, browser support if not already discontinued will end on August 15th meaning no new security fixes are being released for FireFox ESR, Chrome, IE. If you are using these browsers in a short period of time internet sites will update security to either orphan you with a message that your browser is no longer supported or will fail to load the newer security elements.

I know in this community of old cars many of you tend to hang on to older computers and operating systems. At the moment the following browsers have said they will continue to issue security updates for users on XP and Vista.

XP:
Opera: Version 36 is the last supported version for XP, but the company says it will continue to offer security patches. Download from https://www.opera.com/download/get/?...&opsys=Windows

Lunascape: Supported as long as youre running XP Service Pack 1 (SP1) or later. Download from https://www.lunascape.tv/

Google Chrome: No longer supported.

FireFox ESR: Last update released 52.9.0 32 bit Aug 1 2018.

IE 11: Never supported, but beta versions were available shortly before XP's retirement date.

VISTA:
Internet Explorer 9: Supported, as long as you are running Service Pack 2 (SP2).

Firefox: No longer fully supported (ESR) does still provide security updates only. This will end in August 2018.

Opera: Version 36 is the last supported version for Vista, but the company says it will continue to offer security patches. https://www.opera.com/download/get/?...&opsys=Windows

Lunascape: Supported and safe to use. https://www.lunascape.tv/

Google Chrome: No longer supported.

Of the two I have used Opera for years. I have never heard of or used Lunascape but it has some great reviews.

Bottom line if you are unable to upgrade your machine due to hardware issues to Windows 10 and you are waiting for Santa to bring someone in the house a new machine so their windows 7 or 8 machine finds it way to your man-cave or garage, then you should at least be running Malwarebytes with a paid license as malware and virus protection, and make sure all the firewall settings are ALL switched back on to full protection and only connect to the internet while you are using it, as ransomware attackers are getting in through remote desktop even if it is disabled.

Be safe and cruise on.
