pupert,

The firing order is 1-6-5-4-3-2 for both the 229 and 231 V6 engines.

the 229 and 231 have the same firing order? they are totally different engines. i think the 231 has #1 on the passenger side, but i could be 180 degrees off on that..i made a funny, get it..180 degrees off.. funny, eh? ok, maybe not...

As usa says, it's 1-6-5-4-3-2. This is for the 229 (90 degree v6). The 3.8L engine is a buick job.

}i looked in a history book and it said that is was 1-2-3-4-5-6

This is the firing order on the 60 degree V6 engine, which wasn't used in the 1980 Camaro. This engine is typically the 2.8/3.1 engine found in small trucks, luminas, cavaliers, celebrities, etc...
