I just bought a new spedo cable. I installed it dry and it makes a little noise. What should I use for lubrication?

Auto parts stores have what you need. I call it "liquid graphite", but don't know if that is the proper name. It comes in a small squeeze tube that sorta looks like the small tubes of loctite. Ask someone in the parts store other than the high school kid they hired yesterday.
