OK, I'm going tomorrow for my final inspection of this car. I've already hade someone look at it with me and determined taht the 396 engine and rear is original to the car, the tranny has been replaced but is a th400.

What other things should I check just to make sure that it is real. Is there something with the fuel lines.

info: 69 rs/ss conv., 396/325, ps, pt, pb, ac,fiber,cc, am/fm, tilt...

Thanks, ya'll have been a great help.

Count the coils in the hood springs, should be 28, vs 26 for the standard hood.

Bring a magnet and check for rust repair in all the usual places especially the rockers.

will also have the nozzels above the lights in the header panel area and of course the headlights doors and the back-up lights below the rear bumper. It should also have the rear tail panel painted black depending on the org color. If its not the orginal color see if you can see the black paint under the turnk seal on the panel

A 396/325HP car will have two fuel lines. One a 3/8" supply and a 5/16" return line. Since it a convertible it will not have the tail pipe adapter plate on the driver side frame rail. It should have a rear brake balancing valve on the drivers side frame rail.

Look for the A/C air dams outside the radiator core support. These are curved plates bolted to the front of the cocktail shakers. If they are missing you won't find replacements for them.

A big block with AC should also have a curved neck radiator... See if it also has it original radiator tag.

I thought I paid too much for my Z/28 also but 6 years later the car has more than doubled in value.... So much for depreciation.

I'm not sure what you are calling to much but, a rare car like that is and will always be very desirable. When you compare it to what you would spend on a new car that will look like everything thing eles on the street that will depretiate you may not feel so bad. And this summer when your cruising with the top down, you will feel like it was a real good deal. :cool
