What are the right bolt lengths for the water and fuel pumps on SB? Or how much bolt needs to go into the block?
I picked up grade 8 cap head bolts at True Value that will have 1/2 inch in the block. Is that sufficient? Next size up would put 1 inch in, I thought that might be too long.

When bolting parts you need to be threaded at least the amount that is equal to the diameter of the bolt. In other words a 3/8 bolt should be threaded at least 3/8"

Good rule of thumb to know. Sounds like what I got will be just fine. Thanks
