Greetings from the world of neophitism!

Looking around on Ebay, I've noticed shop manuals for 86 Camaros, but have yet to see one for an 87. I was wondering if there was a vast amount of differences between the years -- to the point where it'd be worth continuing to wait for an 87.

A simple "get it" or "wait" will suffice.

Many thanks,

Andy

I have a manual that covers 1982 to 1992, and there are some differences in the years, but nothing too extreme. I think perhaps fuel delivery type might vary or something, but all in all, a 1986 manual will likely cover most of what you need to know about the 1987.

Thanks for the reply. I have the Hanyes 82-92. Even though the GM shop manuals are only 30-some-odd bucks on Ebay, I wanted to be sure the 86 would (could?) apply to an 87. Being embarassingly unfamiliar with the intricate inner-workings, I figured having as much literature as possible can only help.

Thanks again for the input.

Andy

I guess it really depends just how specific you want to get. I have the '82 - '92 manual by Chilton, and it covers nearly all aspects of every year except perhaps for very minor and insignificant differences. It is rather sparse on the interior info, but cosmetic stuff like that is likely specific to individual option packages and might not even be included in any literature outside of the actual build sheet. For the most part, I found that the cars are roughly the same from '82 to '92, and the major differences lie in engines, transmissions, specs, etc.

you need the dealers "service manual" its about a 400 page thick a$$ book, runs about 60 bux , you have to purchase it from the dealer , and they have to call the general to special order it. I have one, it covers every little detail. and is specific for each year.

Chris,

Yes, that's exactly what I'm looking for. Thanks for the clarification.
