I'm not sure why this post was removed yesterday so I'll try it again.

I've got a GM (stewart) short water pump off of a mid 80s Corvette. I'd like to use it on a 67 331 I've built. I realize that the original setup on the Vette used serpentine belts and the pump spun opposite the direction it will turn using a v-belt and the 68 Z pulleys I've adapted to it. I thought this wouldn't work well until I pulled the back off of the pump and looked at the impeller. It has a stamped steel impeller with straight vanes, not curved vanes like the cast iron impellers I'm used to seeing. Since the vanes are perfectly straight I would think it would matter which direction the pump was turned. Has anyone else tried this?

Thanks for any input,

I'm not sure but it seems that the actual "channels" in the pump that direct the water flow would be shaped completely different depending on where the water was exiting the impeller (normal versus reverse-rotation). I would sure try to find that out first.

Call Stewart Components...906-789-2816...they'll probably have the answer.
