hey is anyone running a street glow neon kit on there first gen? iv seen them on a few tri-5's and it looks cool. i always planned on haveing a black car (69) with red z/28 stripes and a red street glow kit glowing off of some highly polished 17's or 18's. any thoughts on a kit like that? im sure the cops would love it too.. just an idea for a cruse or to show off a bit.

Im will be 22 on July 7. When I was in high school, that was the "IN" thing. I have blue light on my Blue '69. I received different comments about them, but they looked pretty nice. The coolest thing was at the drag strip when doing a burnout before you race you can turn them on and your surrounded in blue light. The back light eventuly went out, then the transformer, then it because to much of a hassle and never have fixed them or bought new ones.

There cool for a while, then you kinda get bored with them.

Just my 2 cents worth.

Sorry... gotta go with Derrik on this one. I'd have to say though that they MIGHT (very small might) work on a super clean, show only, custom, pro-street, never driven car that is slammed to the ground and parks on mirrors. They're only good for show, not street driven Camaros.
Let the hondas have the useless gadgets.

NEON on a first gen camaro, if go this far you'll need to stay with the theme and put an "R" badge on the rear panel, dual fart pipes and maybe some Japanese lettering. Sorry could not resist.

If you do put those on I gaurantee you that you will get stopped by the police, especially in San Bernardino. I agree with what the others are saying. Leave those neon lights to the guys who do those lame front wheel burnouts.

put a big "Z28" sticker in the top of the windsheild also ....sorry i had to.
leave that to the ricers, spend your money on something that will let you enjoy the car more and wont get you tickets. I've never seen anyone get a ticket for a CD player (i know you'll enjoy that).

people get tickets all the time for CD players- but they usually also have 500 pounds of extra stereo crap in the trunk, and don't have enough respect for other people's taste in music to turn it the hell down when in a residential area... coincidentally (or not), a lot of these people also have the glowing neon stuff on their car, too.. funny how that works...

I have to jump in here and disagree. I say put whatever you think looks good on your car. If you think the street glow kits look good, put one on. I personally think that they look awesome when installed in a clean and professional manner, and that applies to any car from Hondas to Chevys. I agree that will run into problems with the long arm of the law though. Maybe something you should reserve for cruise nights or car shows.

Funny that you mention that derrik. I have 2 10" neon tubes in my truck to accent my amp rack and bandpass box setup. I have had nothing but comliments on the way it looks. Not everyone with a nice stereo and some neon lights are punks. Just like in everything else, a few bad seeds ruin the whole group.

Going with Dans 67 on this one. Neon is not anything I would want but I agree with the do what you want thing. If you think it's cheezy that's fine. I have seen alot of other things cheezier than neon. First thing that comes to mind is a person saying their Camaro is an original small block SS with 327 badges. Sorry but I would rather see neon glowing through a thick cloud of tire smoke on a Friday night......I think that would look kinda cool no matter what it was on.
