A NOS 1970 Chevelle AM radio was given to me to use in my 69 (my car lost its radio at some point in history)and I am wondering if it will work. Can anyone enlighten me?

Yes it will fit. The tuner dial lettering is white and the faceplate has a blue tint to it vs, the green lettering and green tinted face plates in a 69 but otherwise they look the same from the passenger compartment. If you have A/C the larger (and more square)heat sink on the back can be a tight fit but with enough twisting you will get it in. The 70 and later units had their radio light connected to the instrument lamp circuit, while the 69's had the dial light on anytime the radio was turned on. You have to run an additional wire under the dash to the radio connector make the light work with the dash lights, or you can modify the wiring inside the unit so the light gets power after the on-off switch.

It definately will fit. I think the only difference is the color of the glow on the lens. The 69 Camaro used green paint and I think the 70 Chevelle used blue paint.
