Now that I got my high speed fan blowing, I found the packing missing around the a/c hoses where they go into the blower box, and where the heater hoses go in and come out as well. What packing material should I look for to seal up those areas? That will improve my air flow alot when its done up right.
Ideas?
Thanks

The heater hoses have rubber grommets that attach to the box with short screws. The upper evaporator pipe is wrapped with a sticky insulating tape about 3" wide, but I think there are also some foam rubber sleeves behind this tape right where both tubes go through the box. Type Home depot or Lowes for some of the 1/2" or 3/4" foam copper pipe insulation that comes in 8 foot lengths (cost about 99 cents). Cut off a pair of 1 to 2 inch thick rings and stuff them in there. May have to split the box apart (unbolt the two halves) to get it all the way inside.

Use some black Urethane sealant to seal the box to the firewall, Don't use RTV. The urethane is a flat black rubbery stuff that looks pretty much like the original stuff.

Thanks again Mark, I will head to HomeDepot for some of that pipe stuff, I usually have some laying around, but not when I need it.
I saw the holes for screws around the heater hoses, but I dont want to take those apart to get the grommets over the pipes, I will pack that with pipe insulation too for now.
Did you see my last post in Elec. with pics of my relay and wires? Where can I buy the plastic plugs for those 3prongers? I dont see them in any catalogs?

Click,
The stuff your talking about is called - Permagum (try a Napa store).
Use it all the time to seal evaporator pipes on the plenum.
We just call it - "monkey snot" ???
It stays where you put it and good for sealing unwanted holes in the firewall too.
