I told someone that a 403 Olds in a Pontiac TA should have the distributor towards the front of the motor. I was wrong !! Which motor's are which ?

I think you're thinking about Buick motors.
I had an Olds 403, and it was pretty much configured just like an Olds 350. Big wide intake (I'm not sure, but I don't think they're 90 degree engines - somebody correct me if I'm wrong).
