On a 69 AC car w/ 350 engine:
The AC hot water shut off valve is missing on my car & I'm trying to replace it:

The assembly manual (pg 222) mentions two different types...Opt "A" and Opt "B". Neither of these two valves match the ones pictured in the usual Camaro parts catalogs.

Can anyone comment on the different types of hot water shut-off valves offered on a 69 AC car?

Dan, I've got a late built 3rd week of Sept. 69' A/C car and the valve looks to be original.

It looks like Napa/Balkamp # 660-1061 which was used by GM from 69'-80'. You can check a Napa store with an illustrated parts catalog for temperature control products (I'm looking at a 2000 catalog (page 40).

Rick's First Gen. also carries the valve and there is a picture. It's located in the A/C section of their catalog not cooling system as you would think it should be.

I can E mail you a digital picture if you would like. I'm not sure what the earlier design looked like but I've heard this shut off valve was only used on 69' models with factory air.

Only difference between OEM and aftermarket is the "look" of the vacuum connection. On the original, there's a fitting on the end of the vacuum hose that allow you to screw the fitting to the valve. So the tube is straight on the originals, and curved on the aftermarket.

The originals were riveted to the inner fender. If you are anal, like I am, you might want to duplicate the rivet. I bought appropriate rivets and then used a spring clipon the underside to secure it. It looks "factory" from the engine bay. I suppose you could tack weld, too.
