Might have looked better when it didn't have the Z stripes and the whole interior was orange...

Might have looked better in it's original colors. Tag is more than likely a repro, far to crisp couple of wrong shaped characters on it.
No 720 interior car ever came without the Z87 interior trim which this car doesn't have, nor does a 720 interior have black door panels. The brake system is missing the disc brake balancing valve between the distribution block and the MC, and the MC is a replacement. Bet there is only one fuel line under the car.

My two cents... replace the orange houndstooth seat covers with black comfort weave seat covers... remove the orange stripes and paint black hockey sticks... hum.. and paint the grill white

Nice car...

That's not a Z-10, but I've seen some Z-10's that came with black tops. Not real good looking.

It looks like my pace car when my dad bought it in '79 , the guy had put a black top on it and still had the original paint scheme.Hmm?

It has gotten to be real entertaining for me looking at cars on E-bay and kinda nitpicking them. I sold a Z-28-R/S clone in 1983. It was not represented as anything but a clone 'cause the VIN started with 12337xxxxxxx. It was a 230 in-line six pooper origionally. Good to see people picking up on the disrepancies. One of my favorites is a '69 RS without the headlight washer squirter, I know these things get changed out without the squirter, but it does make me wonder.

I've cleaned my trim tag to make it easier for people to read. I left it silver after scrubbing it with steel wool, then masked it off before paint. But like Mark C said, some have been replaced. I looked at this one carefully and they must of been master maskers. I cannot see any evidence of paint along the edge, unlike mine, where there's a ridge along the edge, very close to the edge, but there. Unless you got anal about it, and sat there with an exacto knife, there would be some paint, somewhere, on the edge IMO. I agree the car would look better with black seats, and a black hockey stripe instead of the orange stripes. Still, seems like a fair price for the car, no?

The tag might be a phoney and the car too! But the color combo may not. I just about bought a 69 350 Coupe, plain jane car out of Kentucky because the body was perfect and the interior looked like new. It was originally an LA car. Built and driven there until the Kentucky owner bought it last year. It was Daytona yellow with a beautiful Midnight Green deluxe interior with power windows(the reason I almost bought the car)and a factory installed Dk green vinyl top. YUK! Makes you wonder who would order these colors together?

I agree with Mark, chances are that the tag is a repro. I have also seen a lot of people that have cleaned there tags and even polished them because they like the look. I dont care for it but thats personal preference. I wont say the car is a fake because I have not seen it but chances are. As far as rare collor combos I have an unrestored 69 SS that is hugger orange with original code 720 orange houndstooth. A freind of mine had a 69 RS/SS that was original blue with red interior and a white top, that car was extremely well optioned including the liquid tire chain option. If anyone knows of that car he would love to have it back!
