I was looking at an ad in Chevy Hi-Performance yesterday and it showed the weight of the LS1 to be over 500 lbs-and then they showed the weight of a standard cast iron small block with iron heads to be just 25 lbs. more! This ad was for a Chevrolet dealership.

I thought the LS1 was alum. block & heads, and plastic intake, how could it weigh so much?

Send a message via AIM to Spames
Were they comparing a fully dressed up ready to run LS1 with all the accessories, and EFI to a small block with just the heads?

They are crate engines so I am not sure what level of dress they receive before being shipped.

The LS1 crate is fully dressed, all accessories, wiring and computer, even the flexplate. Ready to go.
