Need new Drive Shaft

Performing a LS3 engine swap, when the time comes where should I try and order a new Drive Shaft from?

Re: Need new Drive Shaft

Mine came with my SST kit. I just had to give them my measurements. The driveshaft actually came from Dynotech 1-800-633-5559. I'm sure any driveshaft shop can handle your request though. Here is one that may be close to you? Precision Shaft Technologies

I just had one built locally when I needed one,
with 1350 spicer joints it was about $300. Took a day or two.

Re: Need new Drive Shaft

I just ordered a new driveshaft from Strange Engineering (purchased thru Jegs). Jegs does not list all of the Strange Engineering driveshafts on their website... but if you have the part #s you want, just call them directly and they can order one for you. There is a driveshaft order worksheet that you download to determine the correct length needed. Jegs has very good pricing plus free shipping (and a discount coupon can also be applied if ordered at the right time).

NOTE: Be sure to order a driveshaft diameter based on the length that is needed to keep your intended maximum RPMs about 80% of the driveshaft's critical speed.

You also want to select a driveshaft diameter that does not match 1/2 critical speed based on your normal cruising RPMs. If you have an overdrive transmission, remember that your driveshaft is turning faster than the engine RPMs.

I have one on another car and would only use them again. They are one of the few shops that can spin balance up to 10k rpm

When I went 4:10's in my other car the stock DS, even after re-balance, was not enough

Re: Need new Drive Shaft

Found a place on ebay, it was a drive shaft shop in Ohio I think....cheaper than I could get locally

Working great so far....forget what it was rated for HP wise.
