8.2-inch 10-bolt

Are 8.2-inch 10-bolts worth upgrading to posi?
How much power can they handle? Mild 350 with 700R4 is the plan.

Re: 8.2-inch 10-bolt

I ran an Eaton posi and was in the 11's with no issues.

Eric68 was in the 10's before he broke an axle shaft (but it is the same size shaft as a 8.5")

IF set up right, it should live. Now IF abused, all bets are off. (even 2.5T military axles break when abused )

I would suggest aftermarket axles too IF/WHEN you can.

I see no problem with a 10 posi unless you have crazy power and sticky tires.

Above all avoid wheel hop. That will kill even the best built rear ends.

Re: 8.2-inch 10-bolt

I built a 8.2 for a friend's '69 Camaro that had a 383 and a 4 speed. He was lifting the front tires on the drag strip and it didn't break. You should be fine with the 350 and 700R4 on the street.
